As a Foster mother, one of the most powerful and impactful things we can do for our children is pray for them. Prayer is a way to connect with God, seek His guidance, and cover our children and ourselves in His protection and love. It is a way to lift up our little ones and entrust them into the hands of God.

If you are looking for some simple prompts on how to pray for your foster children in a biblical way, I have put together a list of 10 prayer prompts for you and your children. These prompts are rooted in scripture and can help you focus your prayers on specific areas and struggles we often face as foster mothers.


  1. Prayer for Wisdom - "Lord, grant me and this child wisdom beyond our years, that we may make wise choices and seek Your will in all that they do."


  2. Prayer for Protection - "God, surround me and this child with Your angels, protecting us from harm and shielding them from evil."


  3. Prayer for Strength - "Heavenly Father, give me and this child the strength to face challenges with strength and courage, knowing that You are by our side."


  4. Prayer for Kindness - "Lord, cultivate in me and my child a heart of kindness and compassion, that we may show love to others as You have shown love to us."


  5. Prayer for Faith - "God, help me and my child grow in faith and trust in You, knowing that You are faithful and will never leave them nor forsake us."


  6. Prayer over Fear - "Lord, Draw near to this child. May they not fear and may they know that you are with them. Strengthen them and uphold them."


  7. Prayer for Trauma - "Heavenly Father, cover this child with your feathers. When they fear the terror of night, May they find healing and refuge under your wings. Protect them and shield them "


  8. Prayer for Health - "God, keep me and this child healthy in body, mind, and spirit, and heal us of any sickness or ailment that may come our way."


  9. Prayer for Guidance - "Lord, guide me and this child's steps and direct our paths, that we may walk in the plans and purposes You have for us."


  10. Prayer for Self-control - "Heavenly Father, help me and my child to maintain self-control. May we have discipline over our bodies. Help us to be quick to listen. slow to speak and slow to get angry."
